Tomorrow, the government of Chile will be hosting an Open Government Partnership (OGP) regional meeting for the Americas. The event will be streamed online at Chile’s OGP website, and will include participants and speakers from nearly 20 participating OGP countries. View the full agenda here.
One of the main panels of the meeting will focus on “Open Parliaments” and will feature participation from members of parliament and international organizations.
Unfortunately, the panel will not include participation from any of the monitoring organizations that are part of OpeningParliament, but there will be several partners participating in other panels, including Elizabeth Ungar, executive director of Transparencia por Columbia; Felipe Heusser, founder of Fundación Ciudadano Inteligente in Chile; and David Sasaki from the Omidyar Network.
Keep an eye out for updates on the conference, and how this regional meeting may impact broader OGP discussion about the importance of opening parliaments. Also, check out my previous post, What can parliaments add to the Open Government Partnership?
